Thank you Tom! I enjoyed reading your post and absolutely agree that intelligence is in the user! Testing AI for geographic locations is fun and I tried it on a walk around Cambridge. It was totally wrong with my simple prompt :) .

Before LLMs, to geo-locate an image you might implement a system that performs the steps that are described in the prompt, encoding the ‘rules of thumb’ into the executable code, making calls to appropriate APIs, processing result, applying heuristics, etc. The beauty of the LLM is that now a non-programmer can describe the system requirements in natural language that can directly be executed to retrieve response to the question. This ability to achieve the functionality of a complex system without any code is extremely powerful as long as we understand that the result we get may not be reliable. We are trading reliability of software systems for the flexibility of extracting information with natural language.
